The United States Army released a source sought notice for a 6.8mm conversion kit for the M240B and M240L machine guns. The kit can possibly be utilized to convert those weapons from 7.62x51mm to a 6.8mm round. This was released on March 16, 2022 at 08:31 am EDT.
The durability, function, and reliability of the M240 weapon platform cannot be greatly compromised with a change of ammunition. The True Velocity 6.8mm TVCM is the only round capable of answering the call. And not only that, our “conversion kit” is simply a re-chambered barrel.
